Disney California Adventure Grand Re-Opening

When Disney's California Adventure opened on February 8, 2001, those in charge at Disney expected the park to be a huge success. It wasn't and was universally criticized by fans for being built "on the cheap" and without the usual attention to detail and innovation people had come to expect from Disney and its Imagineers.
Fast forward eleven years to June 15, 2012. That's the day I got in line early in the morning so I could be among the first to check out Disney (no apostrophe "s" now) California Adventure's new Buena Vista Street and Cars Land that opened to the public for the first time. Below are a sampling of photos I took during my visit. There's a full set of my photos posted on Flickr. Also debuting this day was a new show at Paradise Bay, Instant Concert !...Just Add Water. Conducted by Goofy, I caught what might've even been the day's first show. I posted my video of it at left. There's also a second video I edited of what there was to see waiting in line in the hours before DCA's Main Entrance was opened. You can catch that video on my Blog. |
Summer Vacation QUESTactular!
On June 3, our MouseAdventure team, the Naboombu All-Stars, produced and hosted for our friends our own Disney scavenger hunt at Disney California Adventure. Like the MousePlanet event, it was a day-long event which ended at the Paradise Pier Boardwalk wear everyone who played could have dinner from one of the area restaurants while we scored every team's quest answers before announcing how everyone did. It was a lotta fun to put together and folks seemed to enjoy the challenges we set up for them in the quests. Here're pictures from the day.

Torrance Relay for Life 2012
The Torrance Relay for Life was held on April 28-29 this year at South High School. There, over sixty teams gathered to celebrate, remember and honor friends and families who have been affected by cancer and raise donations to benefit the American Cancer Society. For the fourth straight year, I joined theatre friends on our Relay for Life team, Friends of the Arts/The Traveling Turtles, to support the ACS and to walk with other teams for 24 hours in a symbolic gesture of support for those who survived or lost their fight with cancer. Here are my photos and videos from the event.

Today, I joined some friends on their team, the Naboombu All-Stars, for another day at Disneyland playing MouseAdventure. Here are shots I took after the eight-hour event which includes our time relaxing at dinner, celebrating friends who won the Best T-Shirt Design contest, and, um, us for earning First Place in the Returning Teams Division!
